Cobb County, located on Atlanta s busy northwest side, will be the site of a number of festive events this holiday season. Three of the most popular celebrations will take place in Marietta, Mableton, and Smyrna. Festivities include a Christmas tour of homes, a holiday arts and crafts show, and a family friendly Home for the Holidays celebration.

The Marietta Pilgrimage, a holiday tour of homes, is scheduled for December 1-2, 2012. For more than a quarter of a century, the tour has been a holiday tradition in historic Marietta. This year s tour showcases six private homes in the Church-Cherokee Street Historic District. Five homes date from the early 20th century, and one home was built in 1896. Three 19th century churches and several other historic buildings in town are included on the tour. A $20 day tour ticket includes admission to all sites on the tour. A $15 candlelight ticket includes admission to three homes. A $25 combination ticket is also available. Shuttle service is provided for day tours. Tickets may be purchased online or from the Marietta Visitors Bureau, at 4 Depot Street, on the day of the tour. Tickets are also available at any of the tour homes.

The Christmas House Arts and Craft Show is the perfect place to shop for holiday gift items. The show will be held inside the Mable House Arts Center, located adjacent to the historic Mable House at 5239 Floyd Road in Mableton. This year s event is scheduled for November 30-December 9. Hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm, Saturday from 10am-6pm, and Sunday from 2-6pm. More than 60 exhibitors will offer a large selection of handmade items including home d cor, toys, jewelry, candles, bath products, pottery, wreaths, and ornaments. Some items will be offered at silent auction. Mable s Tea Room will serve lunch Monday-Saturday. Children will enjoy the Candy Cane Hunt and cookie decorating on December 1 from 10am-noon.

The City of Smyrna invites everyone to Come Home for the Holidays on November 27. The free event kicks off downtown Smyrna s holiday shopping season and holiday lights display. The festivities take place from 5-9pm on the Village Green. Santa will light the Christmas tree at 7pm. Children will then have the chance to visit with Santa and have their picture taken. A holiday bazaar will feature local crafts, and school and church groups will provide musical entertainment. Food will be available for purchase at Donner s Deli inside the Community Center. This family friendly celebration is a great way to begin the holiday season.
